Looking Back!

Updated: Jun 23, 2021

As we officially move into summer today on the longest day, I am reminded of this time last year when I was happily orchestrating Christmas Carols, something I love to do! A strange but wonderful feeling to arrange traditional Christmas tunes in summer time, to imagine and conjure up feelings of snow, Christmas lights, and sleigh bells amongst sunshine, hot days, flowers, and bumblebees. But it was well worth it, especially to hear the TV Commercial which was broadcast throughout December last year for the RAF Association Charity Christmas Appeal 2020 using my orchestration of Silent Night for such a good cause.

In response to the pandemic, the RAF Association launched the television commercial with the aim of helping people to understand the loneliness faced by RAF veterans and to highlight the need to expand their national telephone friendship service Connections for Life for the veterans who were isolating to protect their health or without relatives and feeling isolated impacted by the lockdown rules over Christmas.

Further information about the great work of the RAF Association can be found at rafa.org.uk and if you fancy hearing as wee burst of Christmas (as we approach the half way point in the year!) the TV Commercial used for the RAF Association’s Christmas appeal can be found at christmas.rafa.org.uk.

For now, it's back to scoring more Christmas tunes and of course composing more original music ready to go out into the world for 2022!
